I am so very thrilled to start sharing my food journey with all of you!
I am not going to lie, it has taken quite some time for me to muster up the courage to finally launch The Savvy Strawberry blog but today, I am proud to finally say I DID IT!
Friends and family can be a great support system. I do not think I would be writing this post today if those closest to me did not believe in my capabilities. So I would like to send a big THANK YOU to those in my life who continue to accompany me through my ” Restaurants to try” lists and for those who understand my philosophy that just because I am a Dietitian Nutritionist does not mean I am a vegetarian food tyrant who juices and detoxes weekly. Rather, being a dietitian for me means that I strive to inspire those who I work with to reach a state of balance where wellness goals are achieved through education and understanding of self, nutrition, foods and body.
I did NOT create this blog to enforce any one particular nutrition ideology, but what I do aim to achieve through The Savvy Strawberry is to provide a unique perspective into the food and nutrition realm through the eyes of a food lovin’ diabetic, bake-a-holic registered and licensed dietitian (phew).
As my first post, I would like to give major props to the smoothie man at Mayapapaya Juicery + Kitchen who made me this AMAZING pina colada smoothie this week. I also enjoyed the mediterranean falafel wrap. Anyone in the Ft. Lauderdale area up for a healthy and delicious snack, breakfast or lunch I highly recommend checking out Mayapapaya. It is possible to make healthy food delicious and the crew at Mayapapaya Juicery + Kitchen knows exactly what they are doing.
