Three Sisters Organic Farm

As a Florida resident for most of my life, I regret to admit that this was my first time making the trek down to the Homestead / Redland farm area.

It is not the closest of locations – about a solid one hour drive from where I live, not terrible but def not something that one would want to do during the week when it could take just one hour to get to Ft.Lauderdale with the terrible traffic on I-95.

The Three Sisters Farm is a Chef operated, USDA certified organic farm located in Homestead Fl. The farm grows over 80 types of fruits and vegetables including bananas, yuca, giant jack fruit and kale to name a few. Three Sisters also hosts a lovely Sunday brunch in which they feature their produce buffet style.

I attended their January brunch event with farm tour along with the Miami Bloggers Media and my partner in food, My Wellness Rd. The weather is nice this time of year here in South Florida, which is what you need when you are planning to spend a day outside touring a farm.

The brunch featured a beautiful cast iron vegetable frittata along with pancakes, skillet eggs, fresh star fruit, sautéed garlic kale, and the highlight of the dish (in my opinion) the most delicious chocolate BUT NOT chocolate tasting waffles !

Homemade jams and jellies available include: mulberry, lychee and the most fascinating Jabuticaba fruit jam.

I learned that the Jabuticaba fruit (those giant dark blue balls on my plate)  are native to Brazil has a sour outer but sweet inner taste. But the real amazement came with that chocolate looking waffle.

Yes, chocolate LOOKING!

That delicious  non-chocolate (but chocolate tasting) waffle was made from black sapote, a fruit grown in abundance at Three Sisters Farm and which is totally worth the drive in itself!

The brunch and farm tour was truly a delight, a dietitians paradise!  It was such a beautiful day, I genuinely loved every minute of it. If you are living in the South Florida area you MUST visit the Three Sisters Farm !

Kale Yeah!
